The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
knows that you want "Area Code Select for Overlays"
to be used for the 818 area code change.

To let them know, follow these steps:

1 - Click on this link to bring up the CPUC 818 Preference form.

2 - Fill in your name, email address, and city (on the form).

3 - Select "None of the Above" for the option you prefer (on the form).

4 - Select and "copy" the red text below:

I have heard about "Area Code Select for Overlays" from SMART Dialing Systems, and I believe it would make the 818 area code change easier for telephone customers to deal with.  I don't like the split because I might loose my phone number, and the overlay as proposed will be inconvenient and frustrating, especially if I forget and dial 7-digits by mistake.  Since "Area Code Select for Overlays" makes it easier for callers when they misdial, and minimizes problems with auto-dialers, I request that the Commission have the telephone companies use it along with an overlay for the 818 area code change.  This would make the proposed area code change less of a burden for the public, and would be a more equitable solution overall.

5 - "paste" the red text into the "Comments" field on the form -
